Yorkshire Kart Star goes with the Flow

Teenage karting star Adam Parsley can look to the rest of the season with some optimism after agreeing a new sponsorship deal with one of the north’s leading engineering firms.

Yorkshire kart racer Adam Parsley is hoping to put the frustrations of the 2008 season behind him after signing a crucial sponsorship deal with The Flow Group.

The company - which has factories in Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Newcastle and North America - has agreed to back the promising 14-year-old for the remainder of the year, securing his place in championships at circuits in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

And, with some significant financial barriers removed, it’s hoped the new partnership will prove to be the key which helps to unlock the teenager’s full potential.

“The Flow Group has a tradition of helping up-and-coming young sports stars and is proud of its links with Middlesbrough’s Marton Football Club – winners of the TJFA ‘Team of the year’ award - and with British and European surf kayak champion, Tamsin Green,” said Managing Director John Wall.

“We believe Adam deserves an opportunity to prove what he can do on the track and we’re delighted to be able to offer him the financial support he needs to finish 2008.”

The boost is particularly welcome in a year which, to date, hasn’t been too kind to the Harrogate school boy who, in January, was being tipped as one of the favourites for  victory in his class in the series run at Wombwell, near Barnsley, and Fulbeck, near Grantham.

Highs for the S8 Racing team driver in 2008 have included a brace of race wins and six additional podiums - but mechanical failures along with on-track incidents have blunted the youngster’s championship chances.

“I’m thrilled that The Flow Group has shown some faith in me,” said Adam. “This hasn’t proved to be the season we were hoping for so far but the company’s support means we get on with some development work which should help us solve some of the problems.”

S8 Racing team manager, Jim Thornsby, added: “There’s no doubt Adam is an exciting young driver with a rare ability to think as well as react instinctively when he’s behind the wheel.

“The Flow Group’s backing should remove some of the financial obstacles in his way and we look forward in playing our part in helping Adam to shine consistently rather than showing glimpses of his true potential.”
