Budding Kart Star goes with the Flow
Budding racing driver Adam Parsley repaid the Flow Group’s support with a strong second place in Round Five of the South Yorkshire Kart Club’s summer championship at the weekend.
A thrilling race to second in the Junior Rotax final at Wombwell repaid some of the Flow Group’s support for budding racing driver Adam Parsley at the weekend.
The 14-year-old karting ace enjoyed one of his most convincing meetings for months, missing out on victory by less than a second in Round Five of the South Yorkshire Kart Club Championship at the weekend (July 13).
But the Harrogate schoolboy was still happy with the result which, a few short weeks ago, may have been beyond his reach.
“Sponsorship from the Flow Group has allowed us to replace some bits and pieces which were letting us down – and I could feel the difference immediately, once I was on a familiar track,” said Adam. “A new chassis, braking system and electronics allowed me to race at the front and challenge for a win – the opposite of how we finished our last meeting in June when we failed to complete a race without a mechanical problem.
“Of course, anything can happen in motorsport and there are no guarantees we’ll do as well next time – but it makes a big difference to be confident in the kart and, to be honest, I can’t wait for the next meeting.”
However, it will be a while before Adam has a chance to test himself in his new Alonso chassis again as he flies out to Hong Kong for a holiday, which means his next challenge with the Sheffield-based S8 Racing team will be the Cock O’ The North Challenge back at Wombwell in early September.
“As the meeting also forms a round of the Northern Karting Federation championship, it normally attracts a strong grid so it may be a tougher test,” said Adam.
“Wombwell is a short track but still has some real challenges - including Turn 1 and The Wall which wrote off three karts at the weekend - but this is a circuit I know and like and that may give me a slight advantage.
“The Flow Group’s support has already helped us step up our challenge but I hope I can replay the company with another good result in September.”
